We are currently seeking an experienced Insurance AR Specialist to join our billing team with a strong background in GYN claims processing and insurance follow-up.

Clinical Duties

(May include, but not limited to):

  • Prepares patients for examination by measuring vital signs, taking detailed medical histories, recording pertinent medical history and test results in patient’s chart
  • Counsels patients regarding treatment procedures, medication instructions, test results, and provider instructions as directed
  • Assists providers during examinations and in-office procedures
  • Performs basic laboratory tests and prepares specimens for testing, including phlebotomy when needed
  • Prepares and administers medications as directed by providers, including injections and vaccinations
  • Maintains clean and well-stocked examination rooms and other office areas as directed
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes of contaminated materials
  • Transmits or calls in prescriptions as authorized by providers
  • Maintains inventory and orders supplies as needed

Administrative Duties

(May include, but not limited to):

  • Effectively utilizes computer applications, including EMR
  • Answers telephones as necessary and routes patient needs accordingly
  • Updates patient medical records and starts visit notes for providers
  • Fills out insurance forms and checks benefits as needed, including prior authorizations
  • Schedules appointments as needed
  • Arranges for patient referrals to specialists and schedules imaging and diagnostic tests for patients as directed

  • Communicates effectively and clearly over the phone, in writing, and in person with patients and office staff
  • Works collaboratively with other staff members and promotes a positive work environment
  • Maintains professional attire and appearance
  • Completes continued education/training as required
  • Displays knowledge and correct usage of medical terminology

Education and Experience

  • GYN experience is not required, but preferred
  • Must have current medical assistant certification or registration, and have the ability to maintain certification or registration
  • High school diploma (or GED) required
